The story behind our mission…

If you’re reading this, totally exhausted from the battle of trying to get your child to go to school, please know you’re not alone.
I know how hard this can be. My daughter Evie really struggled when it came to attending school. In fact, I’d go as far as saying that the education system had broken her – she constantly felt ill, didn’t want to leave the house and her words and actions began to show just how overwhelmed she really was. She was referred to CAMHs but they couldn’t help as she was in the process of getting an ASD diagnosis. I just didn’t know what to do.
It wasn’t until a specialist teacher at Nottinghamshire County Council told us that Evie was experiencing autistic burnout and needed to have a complete break from the daily ‘getting into school’ battles that the pressure lifted slightly. There was no mention of attendance targets, no mention of her ‘being fine in school’ and no mention of just ‘pushing through’ as if that would fix everything.
For the first time, it felt like someone understood – that Evie wasn’t just being difficult, and that our family wasn’t failing. Instead of focusing on pushing her back into school at all costs, we were given permission to focus on what she actually needed: time, space and an approach that worked for her.
That’s what I’d love us to be for you – that person who can help find a way forward when nothing else seems to work. At The EBSA Support Service, we offer education in a way that prioritises well-being, whether your child needs a complete break from school, a stepping stone back into the classroom or an alternative that works for them long-term. Your child will be able to choose from a wide range of classes (including those that you’d find in school but also ones such as forensics, criminology and veterinary studies) and will have a learning mentor to support them along the way.
If this sounds like something that may work for your child, please have a look at the Parent/ Carer page for next steps.
Many thanks,

Meet the team

Amy Hastings
Founder of The £2 Tuition Hub
Hi, I’m Amy, a former teacher and founder of The £2 Tuition Hub. Since 2021, we have supported over 20,000 students with high-quality, webinar-style tuition.
The £2 Tuition Hub offers over 100 classes each week, covering a wide range of subjects for students of all ages. Our classes range from IGCSE English, taught by a former Head of English and current Lead Examiner, to veterinary classes, delivered by a qualified vet. Students can learn about Astronomy with a qualified astronomer, explore Forensics with a qualified doctor, or take part in special interest sessions, including our Taylor Swift, Pokémon, and Harry Potter Fan Clubs.
I set up The £2 Tuition Hub when my own daughter experienced extreme EBSA, and we felt there was no other option but to home educate. Her anxiety had stopped her from leaving the house, eating or engaging in anything she used to enjoy.
I completely understand that many schools want to support children struggling in this way but are often limited by funding constraints. That’s why we have launched the EBSA Support Service—a specialist branch of the hub designed to bridge that gap. We offer an affordable solution for schools, providing academic and emotional support to students unable to attend (helping them to transition back into school or their next educational placement if that’s the aim). This support is provided through a package of classes and a weekly learning mentor session, with access to specialist resources. The school will be kept updated with attendance reports, engagement reports and through direct contact with our hub SENCO, Laura.

SENCO at The £2 Tuition Hub
Hi I’m Laura, I have been a Primary School Teacher for 13 years and in that time have had various roles within school which include, Early Years lead, KS1 Lead, Special Educational Needs Coordinator, Mental Health and wellbeing lead, designated safeguarding lead and Deputy Head Teacher. I loved them all in different ways but throughout each one is a running theme of nurture, support and listening to creatively make a difference to individuals whether that be pupils, parents or staff members.
All teachers have ‘the one that keeps them up at night,’ and often for me, it was the children experiencing declining mental health due to school anxiety. I am passionate about creating a safe, nurturing space that puts mental health first and foremost. Engaging learners through gentle encouragement and discussion is key to reengagement with learning.
I joined the £2 Tuition Hub team in September 2024 with the aim to support the EBSA Support Service. Through my experiences in school, I know all too well the turmoil parents and school staff go through when trying to find the right provision for their child, especially when it is beginning to impact mental health. I genuinely believe that offering a non-threatening safe space for children to learn from a place of their comfort will transform outlooks for learning and offering this at an affordable price for schools is essential to building positive futures for young people in today’s educational climate.
